MACHINE OPERATOR 1/23/2019 Return

This position is physically demanding and will be working in a high heat environment. Maintain product in grade according to designated required specifications. Mechanically adjust potato mash flow to the dryer drum and the feed leg of the dryer drum. Mechanically adjust the speed of the dryer drum and the feed leg to the dryer drum. Physically use a shovel to move potato mash up and down the rollers on the dryer drum, to keep drum full of mash at all times. Physically use a shovel to remove potato mash from rollers and mash pans. Cut double sheets from the fact of the dryer drum using a dryer scrapper. Keep dryer wires tight and clean, clean up mash that falls directly under cat walk. Keep dryer exhaust pipe, safety bars, and aprons clean at least once per hour. Keep starch build-up (scabs) out from under shields and knives. Check for defect and quality of sheet 2 times each shift. Adjust accordingly. Keep in contact with the cook deck operator as to product needs. Report all variations in regular normal production procedures to shift lead person or supervisor. Be alert for machinery stoppages or product plug ups, be prepared to adjust immediately. Maintain proper chlorine level in the shovel dip tank by using test strips supplied by the foreman. Change and add fresh water and chlorine at the end of each shift. Be familiar with control panel and steam pressure valves and how to raise or lower the moisture content of the finished product. Dryer drum operator will assist in changing the drum knives when needed. Wash down the entire area at the end of each shift, pull mash pans once per shift and clean. Oversee sanitation and weekend cleanup of the drum dryers.

  • Must have 12 months general labor experience.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently without direct supervision
  • Must be available to work entire 12 hour shift
  • Must adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Be able to lift 50+ lbs. on a daily basis
  • Have own transportation to and from the job site
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test
  • Must able to work in high temperate conditions
  • Must be able to bend, twist, crouch and stoop frequently over the course of a day

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $11.00+DOE /hour
